APP-Sponsored Clinic - Explosives 101 at Mt. Hood Meadows
The Association of Professional Patrollers is proud to announce Explosives 101, a beginning avalanche mitigation blasting seminar put on by the APP and the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Patrol. This will be held on February 7th and 8th at Mount Hood Meadows Ski Area with the explicit purpose of training beginning blasters in the nuances of mitigation blasting in avalanche terrain.
The two-day Clinic, which includes materials, instruction and lift tickets, will cost $75 for current APP Members, or $100 for non-APP members. For information on how to become an APP member, visit the Membership Page.
This comprehensive clinic will cover a wide range of topics, including route safety and safe travel, through the effect of explosives on snow and avalanche forecasting. During the two days there will be classroom time with dedicated instructors versed in the topics to be covered, as well as time in the field showcasing Mt. Hood Meadows avalanche terrain and the various methods available to mitigate such terrain. This is a perfect, low cost opportunity to become versed in the realm of avalanche mitigation, and gain valuable knowledge with the “Explosives Used in Avalanche Control” portion of the APP criteria.
Located just 67 miles from Portland, and 35 from Hood River, there are plenty of fine selections for lodging on or near the mountain. The APP is dedicated to the continuing education of all its members, and is proud to provide cutting edge training in all the realms related to patrolling.
